She died on Apr 2, 1905 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, USA and was buried in Salem East Cemetery after Apr 2, 1905.

Folger Joy and family and Ed Byers drove overly beyond Mt. Pleasant lastTuesday to visit Mr. Byers mother. She is also the grandmother of Mrs.Joy

OBITUARY

Mary (Daily) Byers was born September 27, 1821 , in Ohio, married toJohn Byers, December 31, 1835. She lived for some 15 years aftermarriage in Indiana, came to Iowa in the early days about 1835, andsettled on a farm about six miles east of Salem, moved to Salem a fewyears later and continued to reside at Salem until the death of Mr. Byersin 1894. Since his death she has made her home with her daughter Mrs.Margaret Short. She passed away April 2, 1905. Mrs. Byers was themother of thirteen children, three dying in infancy, one son Frank livedto manhood and was scalded to death in an explosion. The following arethe living children: Rudolph of Imboden, Arkansas; John of Hays City,Kansas; Mrs. Cordelia McIntosh of Hays City, Kansas; Hiram of Hays CityKansas; Mrs Harriett Ramsey of South Haven, Kansas; Jacob of Dawson,Iowa; Perry resides on the old homestead east of Salem, and Mrs MargaretShort of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was buried at Salem, Iowa by the sideof her husband, east cemetery.

OBITUARY

Mary Elizabeth Byers, who died in Center township ten miles northeast ofSalem, who was born in Wiliams Co., Ohio, Sept. 27, 1819. She grew towomanhood in her native state, and in 1835 she was united in marriagewith John Byers. In 1853 they came to Iowa, settling in Henry county ona farm about five miles east of Salem now occupied as a home by their sonPerry Byers. Eleven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Byers retired from farm lifeand removed to Salem where Mr. Byers died in 1895 after 60 years ofmarried life.

After the death of her husband Mrs. Byers had made her home with herchildren, and died at the home of her widowed daughter, Mrs. Short, onthe 3rd day of April, at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 6 days.

The funeral services conducted by T.S. Pool, of Mt. Pleasant, wereheld at the home of Mrs. Short, and the remains laid to rest in thecemetery at Salem.

Cemetery records say born Sept 27, 1816.
