He married Phyllis Moore (with whom he had 4 surviving children Dion Lee, Troy Daniel, Jody Ann and Michaela Paige) in Jefferson Co., Iowa on Jul 31, 1965.

He died on Jun 16, 2005 in Elko, Nevada.
