The 5th of 9 children of Amos Hockett and Elizabeth Davis, , Elvina was the great-great-grandmother of Jay Hannah, was born in About 3/4 mile west of Denova, Henry Co., IA on Feb 18, 1857 and married John Hudson (with whom she had 7 children: Clarence L, William C, Evan T, John E, infant, Maggie and Rose) in Clark Co., Missouri on Jun 26, 1877.
She died on Jan 6, 1936 in Salem, Henry Co., IA and was buried in Salem South Cemetery after Jan 6, 1936.

The community was shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. John Hudsonwhich occurred at her home on Thursday, Jan. 9 after a few hours'illness. Mrs. Hudson will be sadly missed in her home, among herchildren and among her neighbors. The funeral services were held attheFriends church Sunday at 20:00 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. ThomasBrown, pastor of the Cedar Friends church, whose text was taken from2Tim. 4:7, "I have fought a good fight." Rev. Mrs. Bessie Collinsassisted with the services giving the scripture reading and prayer. Thesongs, "Jesus Savior Pilot Me," "Above the Bright Blue," and "We areGoing Down the Valley" were sung by Marvin Hunting, Mrs. Elbert Brown,Mrs. R. P. Nicholson and Clayton Mills, accompanied on the piano by Mrs.Clarence Peterson. Following the services at the church the remainsweretaken to the South cemetery for burial with grandsons of the deceased thepallbearers, namely, Arlo Humphrey, Clarence Bogue, Clarence Savage,Kenneth Van Dorin, Delbert Hudson, Leslie Bogue.
Ella Hockett, daughter of Amos and Elizabeth Davis Hockett was bornSept. 18, 1857 about three -fourth mile west of Denova, Iowa. Her fatherand mother were members of the Friends church, and she, while not anactive member favored that faith. She was one of a family of ninechildren. Of these only two survive: Lincoln Hockett of Los Angeles,Calif., and William Hockett of Codell, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to John Hudson, June 26, 1877 in the stateof Missouri. To this union were born ten children. One died in infancyApril 15, 1878; Clarence L. Died Sept. 6, 1885 at about the age offourteen and a half months. Those surviving are: William C. of nearSalem, Iowa; Mrs. Harry Bogue of Salem, Ia. Mrs. Jesse Bogue of Salem,Ia., Evan F. of Wynona, Mo. John E. of Glasgow, Ia. Mrs. Chas Savage ofHamilton, Ill. Mrs. Bert Humphrey of near Salem, Ia. Mrs. Raymond VanDorin of Washington, Iowa.
About the year 1879, Mr. and Mrs. Hudson moved to Rooks county, Kas.They also lived two years in Missouri and one year in Nebraska. In thefall of 1896 they returned to Iowa where they have since resided.
Besides her husband , two brothers and eight children, she leaves 37grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and otherrelatives and friend. She was a faithful wife and mother and a kindneighbor..
