The youngest of 12 children of Perry Byers and Ruth Scarborough, , Harvey was the great-great-uncle of Jay Hannah, was born in Henry Co., IA on Feb 13, 1892 and married Muriel Huddleston (with whom he had 3 children: Helen, Mildred G and Ina Mae) in Mt. Pleasant, IA on Aug 21, 1913.

He died on Feb 18, 1967 in Hillsboro, IA.
