He died on Jan 26, 2003 in Henry Co. Health Ctr., Mt. Pleasant, IA and was buried in Salem East Cemetery after Jan 26, 2003.

Richard Pickard

Richard D. Pickard, 66, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, atthe Henry County Health Center.

Born Oct. 3, 1936, on a farm in rural Mount Pleasant, he was the sonofEvans Dewey and Dorothea Hoyer Pickard. On June 14, 1964, he marriedLouise Syfert at the Salem Friends Church. She died Feb. 10, 1997.

He attended country schools and then graduated from Mount Pleasant HighSchool in 1955.

Mr. Pickard was a lifelong farmer and drove a school bus for the MountPleasant School District for overly 40 years. After his retirement, hemoved into town in 1999.

He was a member of the Salem Friends Church and served on the Board ofTrustees and Stewardship Committees. He was also a member of the Churchof the Nazarene. He drove a bus for the Old Threshers Reunions for over25 years. He enjoyed spending time visiting with friends at the Hardee'sCoffee Club.

Survivors include one son, Kevin Pickard of Mount Pleasant; one daughter,Tina Bricker of Mount Pleasant; four sisters, Marguerite Pefferman ofWayland, Dorothy Payne of Mount Pleasant, Willadean Logan of Greenfield,Mo., and Helen Weeden of Corryton, Tenn. and two grandsons.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at the Olson-Powell MemorialChapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from6 to8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Pickard will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at theOlson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Tom Palmer and Ken Smithofficiating. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Salem Friends Church.
