Louise Pickard

Louise Pauline Pickard, 51, of Salem, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, atUniversity Hospitals in Iowa City, where she had been a patient sinceDec. 4.

Born Dec. 14, 1945, at Fairfield, she was the daughter of Harold andHelen Watson Syfert. She married Richard Pickard on June 14, 1964.

Mrs. Pickard and her husband lived on the family farm south of MountPleasant for 33 years, drove a school bus for Mount Pleasant SchoolDistrict for 33 years and was the first woman driver for Midwest OldTresher Bus. She was a member of Salem Friends Church, where she taughtSunday School. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking wedding andbirthday cakes.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Kevin of Mount Pleasant; onedaughter, Tina Bricker of Fairfield; one grandson; her parents ofHillsboro; and two brothers, Doyle and Carroll, both of Salem.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in MountPleasant, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thefuneral for Mrs. Pickard will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Salem FriendsChurch, with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will be in SalemEast Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Salem Friends Church.
