MRS. VIVIAN MCDOWELL
Mrs. Vivian Long McDowell, 43, of Metaline Falls,Wash., died Saturday at 1:20 p.m. at the Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Ill. She had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Erma Serles of Hinsdale, during her illness.
The daughter of Jay and Luella (Miller) Long was born at Salem on Feb. 14, 1927.
On June 6, 1949 she was married to Robert McDowell in Mt. Pleasant.
Mrs. McDowell attended Iowa Wesleyan College, Iowa State University ,and received her B. S. degree from Walla Walla College at College Place, Wash. She had been teaching in Pend Cielle County School system in Washington .
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Luella Long, four sisters, and two brothers, Mrs. Erma Serles, Hinsdale, Ill., Mrs. Don (Dorothy) Watson, Heyburn, Idaho, Mrs. Hjalmar (Jean) Monson, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Conrad (Liberta) Taylor, Roseville, Ill., Robert J. Long, Keosauqua and Harold E. Long, New Orleans, La., nephew and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister Doris Ellen.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Beatty-Foster Funeral Chapel in Salem. Rev. Gordon Hewlett of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiated.
Interment, Salem East Cemetery.
