Beulah Goldsmith

Beulah Goldsmith, 86, of Salem, died Monday evening, June 2, 2003, at herhome.

Born Jan. 19, 1917, near Salem, she was the daughter of Hanmer and SylviaLitton Bailey. She first married Edward Watson. He died in 1950. On Jan.6, 1951, she married Oliver Goldsmith.

Mrs. Goldsmith was a homemaker.

She was a member of Salem Congregational Church, where she was a Sundayschool teacher for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Loren Watson of Burlington; onedaughter, Martha Watson Pratt of Salem; four grandchildren; sixgreatgrandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Bailey of Roland and GaryBailey of Wilmore, Ky. and two sisters, Ruth Hesseltine of WinfieldandImogene Dorsey of Mount Pleasant.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents,onebrother and one sister.

Visitation will begin at noon today at Beatty Funeral Home in MountPleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Goldsmith will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at SalemCongregational Church, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burialwill be in Salem South Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Salem Congregational Church.
