, the husband of Rachel Joy Bunker (the three times great-aunt of Jay Hannah), was born in Rising Sun, Ohio Co., Indiana on May 30, 1842 and married Rachel (with whom he had 7 children: Olive Eldora, Elma Elbertine "Bertie", Clara Ellen "Belle", Anna Pearl, George William, Emma Mae and Irvin Clifton) in Salem Twp, Henry Co., IA on Nov 7, 1867.

He died on Mar 10, 1926 in Salem , Henry Co., Iowa and was buried in Salem South Cemetery after Mar 10, 1926.

Wm. Collins departed for Somerset, Neb. Monday in response to atelegram announcing the death of his brother- in - law, George Hannah,who was killed in a railroad wreck Sunday.

OBITUARY

William Perry Collins, son of Henry and Catharine Collins, was born May30, 1842 in Rising Sun, Indiana. When seven years of age his parentsmoved to Iowa, coming by boat and landing in Burlington. They settlednear Lowell where Mr. Collins spent his boyhood days. Later in lifehemoved on a farm four miles east of Salem, where he lived with his familyfor thirty-six years. The last ten years of his life was spent in Salem.

He was united in marriage with Rachel Joy Bunker Nov. 7, 1867. Tothisunion were born seven children, three having died in infancy. Thoseliving are, Mrs. Elma Allen of Tonopah, Nevada; Mrs. Ellen Barker ofSalem , Ia. Mrs. Pearl Denny of Danville, Ia. and Mrs. May Lund ofSeattle Wash.

Theirs was a long married life, covering a period of overly 58 years.

Mr. Collins was not a member of the church, but he loved and reverencedthis institution, and while health permitted he was a faithful attender.He expressed belief in Christ, and took Him as his Divine personalsavior. During his sickness he spoke freely of his departure, planningand arranging for his funeral, choosing as the theme of this occasion themuch beloved twenty-third Psalm. Mr. Collins lived an upright, honestlife, respected by friends and neighbors.

He leaves to mourn their loss his faithful wife, four children,fourteen grandchildren, one great-grand child and three sisters, Mrs.Deborah Shellady of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Ida Grubb of Mt. Pleasant andMrs.Margaret Hannah of Dickens, Neb., besides many relatives and friends.

After an illness of thirteen months he passed quietly away at his homeMarch 11,1926 , at the age of 83 years, 9 mos., and 11 days.

The funeral service was conducted at the Friends church, Saturday at 2o'clock. Interment was made in the south cemetery. The pallbearerswereOwen Hourihan, Hilmer Heade, Dale Barker, Elbert, Harry and Hugh Denny. Aquartet sang, 'The City Four Square;, Sometime we shall Understand,'and"Savior Like a Shepherd Lead us.'.
