OBITUARY
John Rhoads Goldsmith, son of David and Sitha Goldsmith was born inHamilton county Ohio on Feb. 20th, 1852 and departed this life Jan. 31,1922 aged 69 years, 11 mon. and 10 days.
When a child he came with his parents to Iowa, where they settled,nearCharleston. Her he grew to manhood.
He was married to Hannah C. Whetstone. To this union was born onechild. Both mother and child passed away in 1899.
He moved to Salem, Iowa in 1884 where he has since resided.
In 1891 he was united in marriage to Mary B. Armer. To this unionwasborn six children.
He joined the M. E. church early in life and was an earnest andfaithful worker as long as his health permitted.
He leaves to mourn his loss four children - Mabel, Raymond F., OliverW. at home and Cora G. of Ft. Madison; also a sister, Mrs. SamanthaMcCleary of Los Angeles, Calif. and a brother, David of Billings, Okla.,besides several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, in the M. E. church,conducted by the pastor, Victor Bloomquist.
