Dale Owen Pickard, 70, Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Salem and Wayland;died at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 1992, at Henry County Health Center.

He was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Jackson Township, the son of James Owenand Gladys Birdie Jackson Pickard. On August 11, 1944, he married LouvaBailey, who died April 27, 1977. On June 29, 1978 he married MarjorieWaterman, who died Feb. 8, 1982. On Jan 8, 1983, he married Refa Traut.

He was a 1941 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He worked from1949-54 at the former Sheets Motors, Mt. Pleasant; from 1954-64 atNichting Implement Co., Pilot Grove; and from 1964 until he retired in1984 he was the shop foreman for Henry County Highway Department.

He was a member of Wayland Mennonite Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale Eugene Pickard, Chiquimula,Guatamala, and Larry Pickard, Kalona; four stepchildren, Shirley Moreau,Scottsdale, Ariz., Byron Barney, Arcadia, Fla., Bonnie Barney, WestChester, and Linda Johnston, Jefferson City, Mo. three brothers, CecilPickard, Victorville, Calif., Dewaine Pickard, Ankeny, and MiltonPickard, Marshalltown; three sisters, Selma Kennedy, Fairfield, EthelRanck, New London, and Lena Mae Hallowell, Salem; five grandchildren; andnine step grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Sandra Kay; ason, Tommie Ray; and a sister, Wilma Martsing.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, atWayland Mennonite Church with Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Intermentwill be in Salem East Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at BeattyFuneral Home, Mt. Pleasant, where visitation will begin after 9 a.m.thatday.

Memorials have been established to Wayland Mennonite Church, WaylandFire Department and American Cancer Society.

OMISSION

The name of one of Dale Pickard's survivors was omitted from his obituarywhich was printed in the June 29 edition of the New. Also survivingis asister, Roberta Fraise, Danville.
