Lawrence Hunting and a little son, Robert met with a painful accidentlast Friday. Mr. Hunting was mowing the weeds from the strawberry bedand sat down to gather a few berries, laying the scythe by his side.Robert ran up behind him and Mr. Hunting struck his arm on the scythecutting it to the bone. Little Robert stepped on it cutting his toesquite badly. Mr. Hunting found it necessary to have the wounds dressedby a doctor.

Robert M. Hunting, 73, Route 1, Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday morning,June 7, 1986, at his home.

He was born Aug. 22, 1912, south of Mt. Pleasant in Jackson Township,the son of H. Lawrence and S. Anna Hannah Hunting. On Feb. 15, 1941, inMt. Pleasant, he married M. Winifred Scott who survives.

Mr. Hunting farmed in Jackson Township, Henry County, his entire lifeand was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a member of St. AlphonsusChurch, Mt. Pleasant, and the Henry County Fair Board. He was a pastofficer of the Henry County Extension Council and the Henry CountyAgricultural Soil Conservation Service, Moose Lodge and FHA.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Leo, rural Mt. Pleasant; one daughter,Mrs. Fred (Linda) Swanson, Dillon, Colo. and seven grandchildren.

His parents and one grand-daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at St.Alphonsus Church. Father Thomas Spiegel and Father Paul Albers willofficiate with interment in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire at the Weir Funeral Home where aChristian wake service and visitation with the family will begin at 7p.m. Monday. Memorials have been established for his church or the IowaLeukemia Research Foundation.
