E. Harold Byers, 90, of Fairfield, died at 5:22 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18,1998, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born Sept. 4, 1908, he was the son of Orlando "Orrie" and Laura GrubbByers. On sept. 7, 1932, he married Brace Ball in Monmouth, Ill. Shedied July 6, 1990.
Mr. Byers was raised in Jackson Township and lived in Henry Countyuntil 1940, when he moved to Jefferson County. He was a farmer andworked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Middletown, and J.I. Case Co. inBurlington. He also worked at Dexter Co., Milholin-Funk Construction,and was custodian at First Methodist Church, all in Fairfield. He was acarpenter until retiring.
He was a member of Antioch Independent Church, north of Fairfield,where he served in various capacities.
Survivors include several cousins and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at BehnerFuneral Home in Fairfield.
The funeral for Mr. Byers will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at BehnerFuneral Home, with the Revs. Larry Nelson and John Benedict officiating.Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Winfield Scott Cemetery in Winfield.
A memorial has been established for Antioch Independent Church.
