Dora Pickard
Dora Marie Pickard, 98, of Mount Pleasant, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at Mapleleaf Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Dec. 15, 1898, in Lee County, she was the daughter of Henry and Martha Pfister Hoyer. She married Dewey Pickard on Aug. 27, 1921, inLee County. He died April 22, 1973.
She was a member of Salem Friends Church. She and her husband boughtthe family farm in Jackson Township in 1922, where she lived until entering the nursing home in May 1989.
Surviving are four daughters, Marguerite Pefferman of Wayland, Dorothy Payne of Mount Pleasant, Willadean Logan of Greenfield, Mo., and Helen Weeden of Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, Richard Pickard of Salem; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, two brothers and a great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.
The funeral for Mrs. Pickard will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Salem Friends Church, with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery. A memorial to Salem Friends Church has been established.
