Nine candidates for admission to the M.E. church were baptized by the pastor, Rev. P.C. Hogle, last Saturday afternoon. Four of these were baptized at the church and five at Websters Mill. those taken inat the church were : Frank Knight, Frank Masden, Mrs. M.M. Crampton by sprinkling, and Mrs. Jane Knight by pouring. Those emersed at the river were John Pickard, John R. Spray, Gertrude Cox. , Laura Hoggatt, and Lilllie Masden.
Sunday afternoon four candidates were baptized at Donaldson. they were Wm. Smith, Walter Beard, John Hannah and Julius Hunting.

JOHN R. HANNAH
John R., son of Frank and Angie Hannah, was born in Jackson township, Henry Co., Iowa, Feb. 14, 1882; died at his home after a brief affliction with pneumonia fever, Jan. 17, 1923, aged 40 years, 11 mon. 3 days.
He grew up in the community attended the school from which he went to Howe's Academy at Mt. Pleasant, from which institution he graduated and began his career as a public school teacher. He taught one year at Blakesburg, Ia., and elsewhere which experience afforded him much pleasure.
He was united in marriage with Miss Zilphia A. Byers, Sept 4, 1906and settled down to farming as his chosen profession. To them were bornsix children , viz: Florence Jenette, Anna Verginia, Robert Wayne, Ruth Angeline, Marcia Emeline and Benjamine Millard, all surviving the father.
Mr. Hannah was a very energetic farmer, public spirited and fervent in community interests; he was strong and robust, an untiring worker, agood fellow, which won for him a wide acquaintance and friendship. He was a faithful husband, a loving father and an obedient son.
During the revival meeting conducted by Rev. B.G. Hankins, John gave his heart to God, and united with the M.E. church at Donaldson chapel. He was elected Supt. of the Sunday School, in that place became active in that and various other church enterprises.
A week ago he was stricken with a severe case of fever and died after a week's struggle. He leaves a companion, six children, a father, frank Hannah, a brother , Raymond, a sister, Mrs. Anna Hunting, an aged grandmother, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss.
Funeral services were conducted at Donaldson chapel, the church being too small to accommodate the people who came to show respect and honor for him. Rev. James, assisted by Rev. Pool conducted the services. Interment was in the Friends cemetery at Salem.

John R. Hannah, 40 , is Victim of Pneumonia; Taught in Mt. Pleasant Schools.

Mt. Pleasant, Ia., Jan 18. -- John R. Hannah, a prominent young farmer of Henry county, died at his home in Jackson township last night after a week's illness with pneumonia.
Mr. Hannah was forty years of age and was educated in the local schools of Jackson township, Howe's academy, and at Whittier college. He graduated from Howe's academy in the class of 1904 and engaged in the teaching profession for a number of years. He taught in the local schools and was for a year superintendent of the schools of Blakesburg, Ia.
At the time of his death he was actively engaged in farming. Being a public spirited citizen and one who never failed to take an interestin all worthy enterprises, he was a pioneer in the movement and one of the organizers of the Henry County farm bureau.
He leaves his widow and six children, with ages ranging from two to fourteen; a brother and sister, his grandmother. His death will be a great loss to Henry county, in hose affairs he had always taken a keen interest.
The funeral services will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon at Donnellson chapel, a little Methodist church near his home in which he was an active member. Interment will be made in the Friends cemetery at Salem.

John R. Hannah passed away after a week of intense suffering with pneumonia. All that loving hands could do was done to save him, but to no avail. The entire neighborhood sympathizes with the wife and children, who have lost a kind father and dear companion, and to the father who grieves for a dear son; the brother and sister for a kindand affectionate brother. His funeral was conducted by Rev. James of Salem, assisted by Rev. Pool from Mt. Pleasant. The songs were sung very softly and tenderly by Messrs. Herbert Garretson and Willard Davidson, Mrs.Leon Smith and Mrs. Nell Davis; pianist, Mrs. Leah Beery, all of Salem. Many
