Arlo Humphrey
Arlo E. Humphrey, 85, of Farmington, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.
Born Dec. 31, 1914, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Bert and Maggie Hudson Humphrey. On July 17, 1954, he married Frances Davis Hedger in Farmington.
Mr. Humphrey was a farmer and later worked for Sieg Auto Parts storein Fort Madison. He was a 46-year resident of Farmington.
He was a member of American Legion Post 94 of Salem and Farmington Methodist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran, receiving a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Leroy Hedger of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Mary Menke of West Point; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl Humphrey of Mount Pleasant and Howard Humphrey of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Monday at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Humphrey will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hofbauer Funeral Home, with the Revs. Bill Jenkins and Robert Hambright officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.
Memorials have been established for Farmington Methodist Church and the Farmington EMTs.
