Mrs. Jennie Walker
Mrs. Jennie Reil Walker, 65, of Morning Sun, died in Burlington hospital Monday, Feb. 17.
Last rites will be conducted at the Presbyterian church of Morning Sun at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Floyd Bowerman will officiate, and burial will be in Elmwood cemetery, Morning Sun. The body is at the Pierce funeral home, in Morning Sun.
The daughter of John and Viola Couter Hannah, Mrs. Walker was born in Henry county on July 20, 1892. The family settled in Morning Sun in 1913, and on Mar. 27, 1920, she was married to Samuel N. Walker. They were married at Davenport. Walker died Mar. 16, 1957. A daughter, Rosalie Walker, died in infancy, and a son, John Walker, was reported missing in action in Germany in World War II.
Surviving are a son and two daughters: Robert Walker, Burlington; Mrs. Viola Van Houten, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mrs. Marjorie Kimble, Morning Sun. Nine step-children also survive. George Walker and Mrs. Myrtle Dotson, both of West Burlington; Clifford Walker and Mrs. Leota Brumm, both of New London; Samuel and William Walker, both of Marion; Mrs. Maude Fortner, Detroit; Elsie Walker, Benton, Ark., and Paul Walker, of San Bernardino, Calif.
Mrs. Walker also leaves 30 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren,and the following sisters: Mrs. Belle Oakley, Morning Sun; Mrs. Bertha McDowell, Mount Pleasant; Mrs. Esther Richardson, Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Mary Higgenbottom, of Alameda, Calif.
