The "W" and "w" options are also useful when just trying to clean up code:

ls *pl | xargs -n 1 perl -wc

  -c              check syntax only (runs BEGIN and CHECK blocks)
  -w              enable many useful warnings (RECOMMENDED)
  -W              enable all warnings

Although if you have a ton o' scripts it might be useful to pipe it into a file to look at when convenient. Keep the tips coming! They're great.
