The 3rd of 13 children of Johann Frank and Barbara Walk, , John was the seven times great-uncle of Jay Hannah, was born in Rowan Co., North Carolina on Nov 26, 1758. He was married twice - to Mary Lopp (c. 1783 in Rowan Co.) Barbara Lopp (in 1783).

He died on Nov 30, 1828 in Harrison Co., Indiana1.
