The youngest of 6 children of William Seaton and Rebecca McCollum, , Joseph was the first cousin four-times-removed on the father's side of Jay Hannah, was born on Oct 3, 1863. He was orphaned at the age of 11 following the death of his mother in 1865 and father in 1874.
He died on Oct 22, 1865 and was buried in Salem East Cemetery after Oct 22, 1865.
