Willis L. Holland, 83, of Fort Madison died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov.15, 2003 at the Montrose Health Center.
He was born May 25, 1920 in Mount Hamill to Charles B. and Cora M. ReidHolland. They preceded him in death.
Mr. Holland retired as City of Fort Madison Assessor with 25 years ofservice.
On Nov. 17, 1945, he married Leota D. McVey in Salem. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Hoyt (wife Patty) Holland of Kansas City,Kansas; three daughters: Karen (husband Robert) Brannon of St. Louis,Mo. Patty (husband James) Zemlicka of Fort Madison and Cindy (husbandRon) Gjerstad of Jackson, Mo. nine grandchildren; four greatgranddaughters.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
He was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church. Mr. Holland servedinthe Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a memberofthe Veteran Foreign Wars, the Fort Madison Elks Club, past presidentofIAAO, past president of the Lions Club, past president of the IowaCertified Assessors' Association and a long-time Cubs fan.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the King-Lynk Funeral Home.Family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, with the Rev. RobRobinson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.A memorial will be made to Union Presbyterian Church.
