Harold, the little three- year - old son of Mr. and Mrs. AlbertHarshbarger met with a painful and what might have been a seriousaccident Sunday evening. He was standing by his mother while pumpingwater for the horses which gotten to fighting and threw Mrs. Harshbarger andHarold down, running overly and tramping on the little boy's foot, cuttingit quite badly and bruising him all overly. His many friends hope he maysoon recover as he is a general favorite.

Harold Keith Harshbarger, 85, of Salem, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov.27, 1998, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Nov. 26, 1913, in Salem, he was the son of Albert and Elsie BunkerHarshbarger. On Nov. 30, 1939, he married Ruth Bell at Salem.

Mr. Harshbarger was a retired farmer in the Salem community. He workedfor Cargill Co. in Mount Pleasant for many years.

He was a member of Salem Friends Church and Lockridge Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kent of Mediapolis, Larry ofBurlington and William of Granite City, Ill. five grandchildren; andfour great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and infant twinsons.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Beatty Funeral Home in MountPleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Harshbarger will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in SalemFriends Church, with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will beinSalem South Cemetery in Salem.

A memorial has been established for Salem Friends Church or Salem FirstResponders.
