N. of Yarmouth, IA on Aug 1, 1924 and married Everett Burkhiser (with whom she had 4 children: Ruth Ann, Janet Kay, Norma Lee and Carol Diane) in M.E. Church, Winfield, IA on Feb 8, 1948.

She died on Nov 28, 2002 in Middletown, IA.

Dorothy Ruth Burkhiser, 78, of Middletown, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday,Nov. 28, 2002, at her home.

Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Sunday at Danville United MethodistChurch, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Friendsalso may call after 10 a.m. to the time of service Monday.

The funeral for Mrs. Burkhiser will be at 1 p.m. Monday at DanvilleUnited Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Latta officiating. Burialwill be in Middletown Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Great River Medical Center HomeHealth Care.

Dorothy Ruth Burkhiser, 78, of Middletown, IA, formerly of Danville,IA,died at 9:20 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2002, at herresidence.

Born August 1, 1924, in rural Yarmouth, IA, she was the daughter ofRobert R. and Esther Hannah Richardson. She married Everett V. Burkhiseron February 8, 1948, in Winfield, IA.

Mrs. Burkhiser graduated from Danville High School in 1942 and IowaWesleyan College Secretarial Program. She was a secretary for JudgeBainter in Mt. Pleasant, IA, before her marriage. She enjoyed genealogyand growing flowers.

She was a member of Danville United Methodist Church, where she served inmany capacities. She also was a member of United Methodist Women, Charityand Sunshine Circles and was a Danville area 4H leader.

Survivors include her husband, Everett of Middletown, IA; threedaughters, Ruth Ann (Gordon) Holze of Dunlap, IL, Janet (Steve) Williamsof Cedar Rapids, IA, and Norma (Clark) Whitaker of rural Hillsboro, IA;nine grandchildren, Scott Holze of Wheeling, IL, Ryan Holze of Henderson,KY, Isaac Holze of Rochester, NY, Paul Holze of Dunlap, IL, Will, Jenna,Kelcy, Andrew and Alena Whitaker of Hillsboro, IA; AFS grandchild,Bernadette VanKerckhoven of Belgium; one sister, Helen Edwards ofAinsworth, IA; one brother, Floyd Richardson of Crawfordsville, IA; andmany cousins, nieces and nephews.

One daughter, Carol Diane, one grandson, Henry Holze, and her parentspreceded her in death.

The funeral service for Mrs. Burkhiser will be Monday, Dec. 2nd at 1:00p.m. in Danville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Latta willofficiate. Interment will be in Middletown Cemetery. Friends may callafter 1:00 p.m. today in Danville United Methodist Church, where thefamily will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Friends may alsocall on Monday from 10:00 a.m. at Danville United Methodist Church untilthe time of service.

A memorial has been established for the Danville United Methodist Churchand GRMC Home Health Care.
