Willis L. Holland
Willis L. Holland, 83, of Fort Madison died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at the Montrose Health Center.
He was born May 25, 1920 in Mount Hamill to Charles B. and Cora M. Reid Holland. They preceded him in death.
Mr. Holland retired as City of Fort Madison Assessor with 25 years of service.
On Nov. 17, 1945, he married Leota D. McVey in Salem. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Hoyt (wife Patty) Holland of Kansas City, Kansas; three daughters: Karen (husband Robert) Brannon of St. Louis, Mo.; Patty (husband James) Zemlicka of Fort Madison and Cindy (husband Ron) Gjerstad of Jackson, Mo.; nine grandchildren; four great granddaughters.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
He was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church. Mr. Holland servedin the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a memberof the Veteran Foreign Wars, the Fort Madison Elks Club, past presidentof IAAO, past president of the Lions Club, past president of the Iowa Certified Assessors' Association and a long-time Cubs fan.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the King-Lynk Funeral Home. Family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, with the Rev. Rob Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial will be made to Union Presbyterian Church.
