Obituaries: 8/28/99 The Burlington Hawkeye
Eula B. Knight, 92, of Charleston, died at 9:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1907, at Charleston, she was the daughter of James M. and Mary Belle McMillan Barnes. On June 19, 1932, she married Robert M. Knight in Fort Madison. He died Feb. 13, 1983.
Mrs. Knight was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught school for 36 years in rural schools and later at Argyle Junior High Schooland Donnellson Elementary School. She lived most of her life on a farm near Charleston.
She was a member of the Charleston Cemetery Association, National Education Association and Retired Teachers Association. She helped compile a book of Lee County rural schools.
Survivors include one son, Darrell Knight of Donnellson; one daughter, Lela Jean Kohl of Atkins; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday in Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Knight will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hofbauer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Bentzinger officiating. Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose.
A memorial has been established for the Charleston Cemetery Association.
