Elsie E. McVey
Elsie E. McVey, 99, of 926 Avenue F, Fort Madison, formerly of the Salem area, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 1992, at her home.
Born Feb. 5, 1893 in Henry County, she was the daughter of WilliamR. and Elnora Hockett Long. She married Forest L. McVey Aug. 16, 1911,in Mount Pleasant. He died Feb. 25, 1992.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Fort Madison for the past 11 years.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth E. McVey of Winfield; three daughters, Grace McDowell of Mount Pleasant, Ruth Isaacson of Stockport, and Leota Holland of Fort Madison; 13 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren and a half-brother.
Friends may call as they desire after noon Thursday at the King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison.
The graveside committal service for Mrs. McVey will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Salem East Cemetery with the Rev. tom Palmer officiating.
A memorial has been established.
